Amanda Brugel

Tessa Tessa Amanda AmandaPointe Claire is a sleepy neighborhood on the island in Montreal named the West Island. The West Island, which is commonly referred to as being a distinct "island" located west of Montreal for those not familiar with it, in reality encompasses everything to the that is west of Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to be a native of the West Island, although her time there was brief. Brugel was raised in Courtice outside of Oshawa. She wanted to become dancing at first, but due to the speed of growth, she surpassed dance partners. According to an article in the Toronto Star she admitted, "In heels I'm 6' 1 inch. After I outgrew my male companions and stopped dancing, I quit. Some former dancers switch to acting. In the case of Brugel, it was an nudge from the drama instructor at her high school that led her into the proper direction. The teacher was the one who advised her to audition in the role of Anne in the school's annual production. It was a trial run and she was cast as the lead for the role of Rita in Anne of Green Gables. The show was a recipient of the Fine Arts Talent scholarship at York University, where she took classes in theatre and was awarded a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 2000.
